Bhatkal: Protest rally held against the acquisition of more than 100 mtrs land for NH-66 widening

Bhatkal: A protest rally was held by Merchant Association and other social organizations led by Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem regarding the acquisation of more than 100 meters of land for the expansion of National Highway 66 on 16th August, Wednesday.

The rally which began from the Shamsuddhin Circle ended up at the AC’s office. The locals showed their disconcert regarding the acquisition and informed the administration about their discomfort regarding the decision.

The protesters provided alternate solutions such as to construct a single pillar flyover bridge from Bypass or Sarpankatta to Hanifabad cross.

On other hand, Venkatesh Prabhu from Merchant Association ensured that all the organizations will show their support towards this protest led by Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem.

On this occasion Rajesh Naik read out the Memorandum following which the memorandum was submitted to the Assistant Commissioner by Tanzeem president Muzammil Kazia.

The rally started at around 3:30pm in the noon and consisted of large number of locals. During the protest, shops on the National Highway were closed for some time.
