Karwar: Belagavi City and its surroundings received mild showers for over two hours on Friday evening.

Humid and cloudy weather prevailed since noon and it began raining in the evening. Rain brought down visibility and motorists had to inevitably use headlights.

Heavy rain was also witnessed in Karwar, Sirsi, Bhatkal and other places in Uttara Kannada district. Bhatkal received heavy rain from Friday afternoon up to night. Due to the unseasonal rain, life was affected. Water stagnated on several main roads including Shamsuddin Circle, Rangikatte and the highway. The bus stand literally turned into a lake.

Meanwhile, such unseasonal rain which has been lashing for the last five to six days is affecting paddy crop. Inflow to wells, lakes and rivers is once again increasing. 

Sirsi taluk including Sirsi town received heavy rain for over an hour on Friday afternoon.

Later, the intensity came down. Water filled several low-lying areas.

Karwar witnessed heavy rain accompanied by thunder on Friday evening.
