Karwar: District In-charge Minister R V Deshpande met Union Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu in Delhi on Monday and discussed issues related to the development of a civilian airport in Karwar with the help of Seabird naval base.

Deshpande appealed the Union minister to review the proposal on a priority basis.

Prior to this meeting, Deshpande also met Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and gave suggestions regarding the NH-66 four-lane (from Majali on Goa-Karnataka border to Kundapur) work. He also submitted a list of over bridges, under bridges, service roadworks that need to be taken up. In a press release, Deshpande said that both the ministers had responded positively to the appeal.
