Mangaluru: Non-emergency medical services, including services in outpatient departments, in private medical colleges and hospitals in the city will be withdrawn for 24 hours from 6 a.m. on June 17, according to Mangaluru chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA). This is in response to a call for nation-wide withdrawal of non-emergency services in the private health sector by the Indian Medical Association to protest against the attack on junior doctors working at NRS Hospital in Kolkata recently, B. Sachidanand Rai, president, IMA Mangaluru and Sudhindra Rao M., secretary, said. The protest has been called to show solidarity with junior doctors injured in the Kolkata attack.
The IMA has called a meeting of its members and junior doctors at IMA House, Attavar, here at 9.30 a.m. to discuss the future course of action.
