Karwar: On account of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the navy will allow the public to visit Indian aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya on July 20.
People including school children (fifth standard and above) can visit INS Vikramaditya near the Seabird Naval base close to Karwar from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
INS Vikramaditya and INS Suvarna ships will be open for the public on that day. However, certain restrictions have been imposed from security point of view.
Those interested in visiting it have to enter the naval base only from the main gate at Araga. They have to mandatorily carry Aadhar card and election card or any other photo identity card issued by the government authorities with them. People have to park their vehicles in the place designated by the navy outside the naval base. Buses of the navy will ferry them from there to the naval jetty and will drop them back till the main entrance.
Passes for the public entry will be provided at the main gate itself. After returning, they must be handed over to the security staff. Except, mobile phones, no cameras or video cameras or any other electronic gadgets will be allowed inside the naval
base.
The 20th Kargil Vijay Diwas programme will be held on July 26.
