Mangaluru: Due to high Covid-19 positivity rate, the covid review meeting decided to start PU colleges across the district in a phased manner.
Elected representatives and officials also insisted that students should submit RT-PCR negative certificates at the time of attending classes.
Students, who have tested positive for covid should remain in seven-day quarantine. After the end of quarantine, students should be subjected to another RT-PCR test, they added.
Only those PU colleges willing to adhere to such strict covid regulations should be allowed to conduct classes.
Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra K V said based on the outcome arising from re-opening of second PU colleges, classes for students of standards IX and X will be conducted in the district.
The deputy commissioner directed the colleges to submit a report to PU Deputy Director detailing the safety measures taken to ensure that the students do not contract the virus in the campus. District In-charge Minister V Angara presided over the meeting.
