Mangaluru: Revenue Minister R Ashok has instructed officials to provide an immediate compensation of Rs 10,000 to the affected people even if an inch of water enters their houses or houses are damaged due to tree fall or heavy winds.

Presiding over a review meet at the ZP Meeting Hall on Saturday, he also instructed officials to ensure that those displaced and lodged in relief centres are provided healthy and also variety food by changing menu instead of providing just rice and sambar.

The government has already released a grant of Rs 5 crore as compensation to those affected by natural calamities, he said.
