Sirsi: Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde on Tuesday said Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is the last weapon in the armoury of the Congress.

Addressing party workers in Sirsi on Tuesday, he said the Congress has brought in Priyanka in a bid to save it from obliteration across the country. “With the use of its last weapon, the battle of the Congress will come to an end,” he said.

She is being compared with former prime minister Indira Gandhi and projected as another avatar. But within a few days, the people will come to know the reality and get to see her original face, he said.

“Priyanka is being pitched as supreme as the Congress won’t accept other leaders. Many great Congress leaders like Sharat Pawar, Rajesh Pilot and Madhavrao Scindia were not accepted. Except Gandhi family, none can become supreme in the party,” he said.

Attacking a section of media for glorifying his statements as controversial and repeatedly airing them, he said: “A few media houses headed by urban naxals give twist my statements and term them controversial. But, I should thank them for giving me more publicity and making me famous.”
