Preparations on to hold free & fair by-polls in Yellapur

Yellapur: Deputy Commissioner K Harishkumar said that all preparations are being made to conduct the by-elections for Yellapur Assembly constituency in a peaceful, free and fair manner. For this purpose, double the usual election staff has been deputed on duty this time.

Informing about this to the media after conducting a meeting at the election office set up at the Tahsildar’s office in Yellapur town on Tuesday, Harishkumar said that Yellapur constituency is a peaceful constituency and the voters there were conscious. Also, the voting percentage has been high in the constituency and there have been no instances of untoward incidents. 

However, all steps have been taken to follow the model poll code and maintain law and order.

He informed that Election observer is stationed in Yellapur and is monitoring all election-related activities. Election staff have been given training and the voters list has also been finalised. All the polling booths will have basic facilities.

Mustering centre

He said that the mustering centre has been set up at the Vishwadarshan Education Society in Yellapur town and the counting will be held at MES College in Sirsi on December 9.

Superintendent of Police Shivaprakash Devaraj said that sensitive and hypersensitive polling booths have already been identified. Steps have been taken to ensure that licensed weapons of farmers and others are deposited with the police. 

Zilla Panchayat CEO Mohammad Roshan, Assistant Commissioner and Election Officer Eshwar Ullagaddi, Tahsildar H Vishwanath and others were present.
