Karwar: A shocking incident of postmaster escaping with over lakhs of rupees kept in a savings account of around 350 people, has been reported in Baithkol of Karwar on 24th June, Saturday.

The accused postmaster from Baithkol is identified as Laxman. It was said that he was employed in a postal department since 20 years as the leaseholder.

It should be known that in postal department savings account, most of the transactions are done by poor and illiterate people. Misusing the confidence and trust of these people, he has escaped from the place.

Enraged people, who lost their amount had besieged the post office. The Department officials have filed the complaint against the postmaster and investigations are carried on.
