Karwar: Model playgrounds are being developed in the premises of 114 government schools under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in Uttara Kannada district. 

In order to facilitate the school children for playing, the Zilla Panchayat has initiated measures for developing the playgrounds under MGNREGS at the schools.

ZP CEO M Priyanga said, every child has an interest in playing. Proper playgrounds are required at the schools for nurturing sporting skills of the children. Hence, playgrounds are being developed under MGNREGS in the school premises in 2020-21. Basketball court, Kabaddi, Kho-kho and volleyball grounds are being developed, she stated.
