With such phone-in programmes, the officials will come across the problems of rural areas including illicit liquor trade, transportation, and unavailability of basic facilities, he added.

Based on the complaints registered during the phone-in programmes, the district and taluk administrations will initiate measures to solve the problems, he opined.

District Health & Family Welfare Department Officer (In-charge) Sharad Nayak said, the mobile health facilities will be continued in the remote villages of various taluks across the district including Yellapur.

He also said, there are plans to provide mobile health services in some of the remote villages in the district. The project will be implemented through a private agency. Over a question regarding quacks, he said, a special investigation team has been formed to prevent the menace of quacks. Measures will be taken to appoint the medical officers and staff in various hospitals across the district, he said.

More than 50 phone calls were received during the one-hour long phone-in programme, in which 15 expert doctors of various taluks attended the phone calls.

Health Department officials Ramesh Rao, Shankar Rao, Mahabaleshwar Hegde, Vinod Bhute, Satish Shet, Lalita Shetty, and District Information & Public Relations Officer Himanthraju were present.
