Bhatkal: 30 members of Popular Front of India (PFI) is making all efforts to offer a dignified burial to those who died of Coronavirus as per the health department guidelines.
The health department has trained the members in carrying out the last rites. The activists with PPE kit will perform all the rituals related to burial, including offering prayers. The PFI team has buried eight victims until now.
According to Muzar Ahmed, PFI Mangalore unit president, “It is a good deed to take part in the funeral rituals. All including our family members are supporting us. Even masjids have extended the required support.
Ashraf from Mumbai has imparted training to the team on burial as per Islamic tradition. In addition, Dr Naveen Kumar from Wenlock Hospital, Mangalore has imparted training to members on how to carry out the burial as per the government guidelines. The same team had buried the body of 76-year-old victim from Bhatkal, Uttara Kannada, at Angaragundi on the Mangalore’s outskirts.
Using the cloth, they place the body inside the pit dug for the body. Later, they offer prayers and fill the pit with soil, he added.
