Sirsi:  A pedestrian was killed on the spot after being hit by a speeding car here at Nataraj road in Sirsi town on 19th April, Friday. 

The deceased is identified as Gangadar Mahabaleshwar Hegde, 77, a resident of SBI colony in Sirsi.

Sources informed that the collision was such that the car first hit a parked motorbike, then the pedestrian and finally stucked with colliding the nearby electric pole. Eyewitnesses said the incident would have given more ugly turn if the electric pole would have broken.

Soon after the incident, the driver fled the scene leaving the car behind.

On receiving the information, Sirsi market police station personnel rushed to the spot and conducted the necessary investigation. 

A case has been regisetred.
