Over 400 houses marooned in Ankola villages

Ankola: Even before the people affected by the flood in the Gangavali river recovered, another round of flood has hit several villages in Ankola taluk. Houses of these villages were marooned in the water affecting normal life to a large extent.

The Meteorological Department has sounded a red alert in the coastal area for four days from Monday (October 21). 

Following heavy rain since Monday night, water gushed into around 400 houses in Agasur, Chinnamoole, Vasarkudre, Karebail, Bogrigadde, Keni Gaonkarwada, Shirkuli villages. This apart, more than five houses even collapsed. Paddy crop ready for harvest and banana plants have damaged completely. This apart, several people lost household articles and consumer durable articles like refrigerators, televisions, grains and utensils to the rain. Vehicles parked in front of the houses have also washed away. Loss to tune of Rs 20 lakh has been incurred as of now.
