Karwar: Open gutters in the heart of Karwar City (behind zilla panchayat office) that have remained unattended for months has been drawing the ire of the citizens.

The area which houses offices and residences of the deputy commissioner, zilla panchayat officers, judges and other officials has open gutters and stinking sewage water creating an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes which can spread diseases like malaria and dengue.

The area is badly littered with people throwing their waste right under the board which warns of penalty for littering.

The open gutters are also posing a threat of accidents to the citizens and it seems that the authorities concerned are blind towards it.

Despite complaints, the Karwar Municipality and other departments concerned have not bothered to address the issue. The citizens have urged the authority to wake up at least now and address the civic problems of people before some untoward incidents occur.
