Bhatkal: A water well collapsed into the ground at Tarinmakki at Kaikini after a heavy downpour of rain on the evenings of Sunday and Monday.

Kalinga Durga Naik, the owner of the well, told the reporters that the water well was in excellent condition on Sunday night only to find a pit in its place, the next morning. There was no sign of water well. He recalled that he had heard a loud sound at midnight.

He further added that the well was dug before 23 years under a government scheme and the whole neighborhood utilised the water. He has requested the concerned authorities to repair the water well.
