New Delhi: Large swathes of the country seared under record high temperatures today with the mercury touching 48°C in Delhi, the highest for June.
There was no immediate respite in sight. Churu in Rajasthan was the hottest at 50.3°C, followed by Banda in UP (49.2°C), Allahabad (48.9°C), Sriganganagar (48.5°C) and Narnaul in Haryana (48.3°C). Bhiwani and Hisar recorded a high of 46.8°C and 46.4°C, respectively. In Punjab, the maximum temperature in Amritsar was 45.2°C, Ludhiana 45.5°C and Patiala 45.8°C.
Himachal’s Una experienced the hottest day in 14 years at 45.2°C.
