No need of lockdown in Uttara Kannada: Minister Hebbar

Karwar: The capital city of Karnataka, Bengaluru, and the neighbouring district of Dakshina Kannada have been declared lockdown for a week or 10 days. But there is no need for lockdown in the Uttara Kannada district, announced Uttara Kannada district In-Charge Minister Shivaram Hebbar.

The lockdown has been announced in those regions in wake of the escalating cases of COVID-19. However, no lockdown has been announced in Uttara Kannada district. Also, no such situation has risen in the district.

Further speaking, Minister Shivaram Hebbar said, Chief Minister Yeddyurappa had held a meeting with all the District In-Charge Ministers and officials concerned. Our team have also shared the situation of COVID-19 in our district with the Chief Minister. Also, after 2 PM, except Bhatkal, people from all over the district have called for a self-proclaimed lockdown. We support to run a self proclaimed lockdown, he added.

He also said that the complete lockdown after 2 PM in Bhatkal, which is imposed by government, will continue till further notice. The cases of Coronavirus are surging in Bhatkal, with most numbers due to the interstate and international travellers. We have decided to conduct more tests in Bhatkal, he added.
