Mangaluru: The night curfew from 9 pm to 5 am and weekend curfew from Friday (9 pm) to Monday (5 am) will come into effect in Dakshina Kannada district from Friday itself, Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra K V stated in a press release.

The deputy commissioner, exercising powers under the Disaster Management Act, banned socio-cultural, political and religious events. As before, only 50 guests were permitted to attend weddings and 20 people for funerals. From Monday to Friday, devotees will be allowed to have only darshan of presiding deities at all temples across the district. The entry of devotees to temples during the weekend is banned.

The students from Kerala should submit RT-PCR negative reports once a week. Passengers will be subjected to tests at the Mangaluru Railway stations and will be shifted to the Covid Care Centres. If the passenger tests positive, they will have to extend their stay in Covid Care Centres. All educational institutions will remain open as according to government’s July 19 order, the press release stated.
