Bhatkal: Shivprakash Devaraju, newly appointed superintendent of police for Uttara Kannada district, made his first visit to Bhatkal on Saturday and inspected the town and rural police stations.

Speaking to reporters on this occasion, he said that maintaining law and order in the district is our top priority. We have Ganesh Chaturthi and Moharram festivals approaching in a couple of days, everyone should celebrate the festivals with joy and happiness. Anyone creating mischievous things that could damage law and order will have to face serious consequences. Those trying to create communal hatred in the district will be punished, he threatened.

I have been visiting all the police stations in the district and trying to study the current situations, after which the plans will be made and implemented accordingly.
