Sirsi: “A separate district of Sirsi comprising the taluks of the upper ghat region is necessary from administration point of view. So, we have planned to intensify the struggle with our demand for a separate district,” informed Sirsi Pratyeka Zilla Horata Samithi president Upendra Pai.

Speaking at a programme of Upendra Pai Seva Trust organised at Sarkuli in Siddapur taluk recently, Pai said that Karwar has been made the district headquarters of Uttara Kannada. People of Sirsi, Siddapur, Mundgod and Yellapur areas find it difficult to go to the district headquarters as it is around 110 to 150 kilometres away. Carving Sirsi Education District when MLA Vishveshwar Hegde Kageri was a minister has helped people a lot. In days to come, the education district must be converted to revenue district also. There was a need to launch a movement for this.
