Honnavar: In a road accident that happened here at Hosapattana in the taluk on Thursday morning, a motorist had a lucky escape after a boulder that fell on the busy highway, causing him to suffer minor injuries.

The injured is identified as Girish Budhawant Naik.

It is reported, however, Girish who was plying on a two-wheeler on the highway, had a lucky escape with minor injuries, but his vehicle was damaged severely in the incident.

Locals alleged that as the heavy rains lashed in the region couple of days back, the boulder slipped and fell from the heights of the hillock area. They also accused IRB company for undertaking unscientific highway widening works.

In this regard, a case has been registered at Manki police station.
