Bhatkal: A fire broke out in a roadside fruit shop located opposite to Urban Bank on main road due to a mosquito coil, which burnt the shop as well as fruit filled boxes to ashes.

The shop which gutted belonged to Mehboob Ali of Abuzahar colony in Bhatkal.

It is said that he had lit a mosquito coil in the shop, during which the tragedy happened. The coil accidentally came in contact with the tarpaulin, which caused the flame to engulf the whole shop. Upon receiving the information, the fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and managed to control the flame from further spreading.
