Bhatkal: The early hours in Bhatkal on Saturday, witnessed a road accident involving collision of Minibus and Tempo, causing injuries to more than twenty people including women and children. The mishap happened near Sapbatti cross on Sagar road, Bhatkal.

Police informed that the accident happened when a Tempo carrying group of Bengaluru based tourists from Sigandur to Murdeshwar, collided a minibus which was enroute Sigandur from Murdeshwar. Both had a head-on collision near Subatti cross bus stop, where the road is said to have a narrow curve. Most of the victims have received minor injuries, said police.

Soon after the incident, the injured were rushed to Bhatkal government hospital for first aid treatment, and were later taken to Udupi and Manipal hospitals for advanced treatment. 

A case has been registered in Bhatkal rural police station.
