Mangaluru: After a brief lull, monsoon picked up pace in Dakshina Kannada district. The district has being experiencing rainfall since Thursday night which continued even on Friday morning.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded red alert in coastal districts. According to IMD warning, Dakshina Kannada district is likely to receive 64.5 mm of rainfall on Friday and a rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.6 mm from July 10 to 13.
Owing to the warning of heavy rainfall, traditional fishermen too have decided not to go for fishing. Owing to ongoing works, water logging was reported in a few roads in Mangaluru.
A landslide damaged compound wall of a house owned by Lakshmiba at Lingappayyana Kadu. A portion of the wall of the house was also damaged.
Five electricity poles, along with a transformer, were uprooted at Chelyaru colony in Haleyangadi. The uprooting of poles disrupted power supply in the area.
Several electricity poles were damaged after a tree fell on them near a school in Thokur. In the past 24 hours ending at 8 am on Friday, Dakshina Kannada district has received an average rainfall of 11 mm.
Three houses were partially damaged in the district. Since April this year, 59 houses are fully damaged and 316 houses partially damaged in district.
