Karwar: MLA Roopali Naik paid a surprise visit to the office of the Karwar Development Authority (KDA) recently and expressed disappointment over the irregularities there.

She visited the office at around 12:30 pm. However, there were no senior officers in the office. Though she called them over the phone, they did not turn up. This negligence irked the MLA.

The MLA said that Neelam Gajanikar, who worked as a typist in that office, retired seven years back. But she was not getting pension. Though Neelam ran from pillar to post to get pension released, her problem had remained unsolved. So, the MLA directed the contract employees of the office to immediately settle the issue.

The MLA said that she had actually visited the office to discuss issues including simplification of the process by KDA to grant approvals for construction of houses in rural areas of Karwar taluk.

The MLA told presspersons that officers talk about hundreds of norms and guidelines when a common man was constructing a house whereas permission for five or six floor apartments was being given without any hassle.
