Kumta gets a new play park

Kumta: A new children's play park was inaugrated in the town by district in charge minister RV Deshpande here in Kumta. This new play  park is located opposite to Eidgah ground on Sheshadripur hill in Kumta.

This play park has been built up with various facilities which include walking track, seating arrangement, children's park and many other things.

The 14- hectares hilly area belonges to forest department and there was a small in the area. Recently, the department decided to develop this small park into the new hotspot of the town. It planted around 70 types of medicinal plants, which are used in various treatments.

Along with the medicinal plants, seating arrangements, playing equipment for children, walking track, canteen, public toilets and many other facilities have been made available for the people who visit the hill to take a walk. The department have also developed the tree park.

Earlier, at the same place there was a small park which was called as 'Veer Sawarkar park'. But now, the park has been developed with more types of amenities including different types of trees.

Honnavar DFO, Vasant Reddy, on the occasion said that they have spent around 40 lakh rupees for this new tree park. All public amenities including yoga platform and canteen have been developed in the park. Those who come here for walk can take medicinal breath, as there are many medicinal trees.

The park was inaugrated by district in charge minister RV Deshpande along with local MLA and coastal development authorities chairperson Sharada Mohan Shetty.
