Karwar/Dandeli: The deputy commissioner has ordered enquiry in the case of manual scavenging involving pourakarmikas at a house in old Dandeli area.
The deputy commissioner said that the deputy director of Social Welfare Department and Dandeli City Municipality Commissioner must jointly enquire into the matter. If
the case is found to be true, action must be taken against the culprits as per norms. A report in this connection must be submitted within three days.
Meanwhile, the pourakarmikas involved in the manual scavenging have lodged a separate complaint with Dandeli police on Friday.
“The head of pourakarmikas asked us to involve in manual scavenging on December 11. When we did not agree to it, he threatened us saying that the CMC Commissioner had himself asked to do this work. So, we had to do that work. We are facing injustice. Therefore, case has to be registered against those concerned,” said Pourakarmikas Ranganayakalu, Abhishek Dogipolu, Manjunath Mohikkar, Narasimha Dasari in the complaint.
Police led by DySP Mohanprasad visited the spot and did the Panchanama.
