Mangaluru: CCB cops have arrested two persons, including a Tamil Nadu origin doctor, on the charges of peddling hydro weed at Derlakatte on Wednesday.

Police said the arrested have been identified as Rashmi who is residing in Suratkal but hails from Tamil Nadu and Ajmal T of Mangalpady in Kasargod.

Police have seized 1.2366 kg of hydro weed worth Rs 30 lakhs to Rs 1 crore, a Santro car and 2 mobile phones from the accused.

It is said Dr Nadir from Kasargod was the prime accused. He was a doctor abroad and is presently absconding.

Speaking to newsmen here on Wednesday City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said that the two were supplying the contraband to addicts in Mangaluru, Ullal, Konaje, Uppala and other places.

The duo had arrived by train from Kanhangad to Mangaluru on Wednesday and were ready to travel to Derlakatte by car when the cops who acted on a tip-off apprehended the two.
A case has been filed in Economic and Narcotic Offences Police Station.
