Mangaluru: A man stabbed a woman 12 times and then attempted suicide by slitting his throat at Bagambila in Derlakatte on Friday. The woman is in a critical condition.

Police said the victim is Deeksha,20, a resident of Bagambila, and she was attacked by Sushanth, 22, a resident of Shaktinagar. Deeksha was pursuing her MBA in Karkala. Preliminary investigation shows that it is a case of a relationship gone sour, said police sources. Sushanth, who planned the attack, arrived near Deeksha's house around 5 pm on Friday.

When she was walking on the road, Sushanth stabbed her 12 times. When he tried to escape from the spot, people gathered in large numbers and stopped him. He then tried to take his own life by slitting his throat. A case has been registered at the Ullal police station in this regard, and an investigation is on.
