Mangaluru:  Police have arrested four persons on the charges of allegedly spreading false news that Hindu outfit leader Sharan Pumpwell had sexually abused a woman working for Durga Vahini women’s organisation.

Police said on Wednesday that the accused had also posted several messages against Hindu community on WhatsApp which had gone viral.

The arrested have been identified as Bhavani Shanker (32), Naushad (27), Ravi (38) and Jaya Kumar (33).

Police also registered a case under cyber crime and are investigating.
