Mangaluru: A surveyor was caught red-handed while accepting bribe to divide the land (podi) by Anti Corruption Bureau officers in Uppinangady on Friday. The surveyor is M Shivakumar, who works in Puttur Taluk Office.
He was arrested while accepting bribe from one Gopala Mogera of Hirebandadi village. Gopala had applied for ‘Podi’ (document showing division of land) of the land that was in the joint name of his mother and brother in 2015.
The surveyor had reportedly demanded a bribe of Rs 30,000 to complete the work. Later, the amount was reduced to Rs 20,000.
Gopala in turn lodged a complaint with ACB.
