Mangaluru: A teacher plays a role in the success of every individual. Teachers are heroes for the children. Hence, teachers play a vital role in moulding the life of students, said Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra K V.

He was addressing a gathering during the Teachers’ Day celebrations organised by the district administration and education department at Canara High School in Urwa on Saturday.

The best school is the one which has good teachers. A school with good buildings cannot be considered as a good school, he added.

MLA Vedavyas Kamath presided over the programme. District-level Best Teachers awards were presented on the occasion.

Yoga and physical education teacher Shekar Naik from Mangalajyothi Integrated High School in Vamanjoor was presented the district-level special award.

National award winning teacher Yakub and state award winning teachers in 2019 were also felicitated on the occasion.
