Mangaluru: The city mayor, Kavitha Sanil was directed by the high court on 13th September, Wednesday to thoroughly check complaints of violation before embarking on raids, as a response to the writ petition filed by owner of a saloon center where she had conducted a raid on 11th July.
The writ petition was filed by Francis Kiran Lasrado, owner of Green Valley Unisex Saloon Centre on Balmatta Road in the city questioning the surprise raid and locking of the center by the mayor.
In response to the writ petition, the verdict was passed by the single judge bench of the High Court directing the mayor and MCC Commissioner to ensure that all procedures are followed before raids.
Mayor Kavitha appeared at the court and submitted an affidavit on behalf of the MCC on Wednesday. The Court had earlier issued an interim stay to the MCC action and had permitted the owner to operate the salon.
