Mangaluru: The Mangaluru city mayor met Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah at his official residence, 'Kaveri' on 11th September, Monday.

Mayor Sanil urged the CM to release a special grant from CM's fund of Rs. 50 crore for undertaking various development works within city corporation limits and also requested him to post officers and employees to various vacant posts in the city corporation at the earliest to ensure that these development works are held without any hitch in city corporation limits.

At present, 50 percent of posts in the city corporation are lying vacant. Every year, a number of employees retire. Since last ten years, no new appointments have been made. Repeated demand to fill vacancies have fallen on deaf ears so far. However, there was positive response by the CM regarding these demands.

The mayor was accompanied by Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai during this visit.
