Mangaluru: In their investigation, the police have gathered that Abubakker Siddiqui, who had claimed to be attacked during communal clashes on 10th July, had actually himself sliced the skin of his head using a blade.
The accused Abubakker Siddiqui (30) is from Kuppepadavu near Suratkal and had injured himself at Yedapadavu to pose as a victim of the communal clash.
According to the sources, it is believed that he had given a statement to the police stating that people seated on a motor bike had approached him at around 7 pm on 10th July and fled after attacking him. The complaint was filed by his elder brother Akbar at the Bajpe police station.
He was shifted to a private hospital. But during later questioning by the police, they found that he had given contrasting details and after intensive questioning, he confessed that he had caused injury to himself.
It was gathered that he had posed as a victim of the communal clash in order to escape a huge debt.
On 15th July, a cash prize was handed over to the leader of the Bajpe police team led by its inspector, T D Nagaraj, for cracking this case by the Director general of police of Karnataka, Rupak Kumar Dutta,
