Mangaluru: The former IGP of Western range, senior police officer IPS P Harishekaran received prestigious service award from American Consulate General (ACG) recently for detecting gangs involved in human trafficking.

The SIT (Special investigation team) headed by Harishekaran had identified 16 gangs involved in the human trafficking and had acted against them, during the time when he served as additional police commissioner in Bengaluru.

The ACG congratulated him for his service especially in containing human trafficking. Harishekaran was transferred to Bengaluru on Wednesday after handing over the charge of IGP Western range to IPS Hemanth Nimbalkar.
