Mangaluru: A man was arrested by the police within a few hours after he was accused of eve teasing a college student on 30th July, Saturday.
The accused identified as Mahesh Pai (24 yrs), a resident of Car Street in the city.
According to the sources, the girl was on her way to college from hostel on Saturday morning. Mahesh stopped and harassed her on the Court road and when she shouted for help, he fled in his vehicle as some students came to her rescue.
A complaint was lodged immediately by the college management. The Bunder police arrived and got Mahesh’s face description from the girl. Within hours they managed to track the accused Mahesh.
It was learnt that Mahesh works for a company on P M Road and police arrested him from there. He was then handed over to Women’s police station. The court has remanded judicial custody to Mahesh.
A case was registered against him under POCSO act.
