Mangaluru DC lodges plaint against fake order

Thu, 09 Jan 2020 13:00:52    TNN

Mangaluru: A purported order issued by deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh declaring a holiday for educational institutions in Dakshina Kannada district on Wednesday, a day that trade unions gave a call for a nationwide bandh, has not gone down well with the district administration. Taking umbrage at this, Sindhu has directed her office to lodge a complaint with the Mangaluru city police against miscreants for creating this confusion.

Sindhu told reporters that these days it is easy for anyone to photoshop a previous order and circulate it on WhatsApp. Stating that this creates needless confusion in the minds of people, Sindhu said, “I have directed my staff to lodge a police complaint in this regard.”

Govt dept had to step in to quell rumours

When the order went viral late on Tuesday, the department of information and public relations had to step in to clarify that the order was fake, and that the DC has not issued any such order.

The confusion was evident even on Wednesday with this fake order eliciting queries from parents if schools were functioning for the day. The clarification issued by the department went a long way in allaying their concerns.

Has happened in the past as well

Incidentally, such fake orders did the rounds even in the past, when speculation were rife if the district administration would declare a holiday for educational institutions during the recent cyclonic storms that passed close to the district.

The protocol tahsildar has lodged a complaint with Mangaluru South police station in this regard.
