10 kg ganja seized in Mangaluru, three arrested

Mangaluru: A raid was conducted by the CCB(City crime branch) police on 3rd July, Monday and three people were arrested along with 10kg Ganja at Falnir in the city.

The accused Rameez Raaz (24), a resident of Naringana, Bantwal, Mohammed Haneef (31), a resident of Natekal, and Iqbal Haris (24), a resident of Belma have been taken under custody by the police.

The raid was performed over a tip received that ganja was being smuggled from Andhra Pradesh into Dakshina Kannada and being sold to people from a lodge in Falnir here. Upon getting the information, the CCB police raided the spot and arrested the trio.

According to police sources, 10 kg of ganja, three mobile phones, a digital weighing scale, small plastic packets used to fill ganja in, Rs 9,500 cash and a Honda Unicorn two-wheeler were seized from the accused.

The accused had during interrogation confessed that they purchased the ganja from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.

The raid operation was conducted under the directions of DCPs Shantharaju and Hanumantharaya by a team guided by ACP Valentine D'Souza, and led by CCB inspector Sunil Y Naik while the order was given by police commissioner T R Suresh.
