Mangalore: Minister Ramanath Rai paid visit to the house of Sharath, the RSS volunteer, who was murdered recently and consoled his father Taniyappa Madival, on 12th July, Wednesday.

He visited Mr. Madiwala’s residence along with supporters, and kept media persons at bay. He reportedly promised the victim's family that the administration would soon nab the miscreants who were involving in this incident.

Mr. Rai was under attack from several quarters, including the opposition BJP and Mr. Madiwala himself, for not visiting the residence of the victim of communal violence in the region. The victim’s village Sajipa falls under the Bantwal Assembly constituency, which is represented by Mr. Ramanath Rai.

BJP leaders had wondered whether Mr. Rai would visit only residences of Muslim victims, referring to his recent visit to the residence of Ashraf Kalai, an SDPI activist, who was hacked to death at Benjanapadavu near Bantwal.

Taniyappa Madiwala had also grieved that though he had been providing the laundry and ironing services to Mr. Rai for over two decades, the Minister had not visited him.
