Kumta: “Prisoners too are human beings and they need to take care of their health and maintain hygiene. Hence, officials concerned should take measures for maintaining cleanliness at Kumta sub-jail located on the premises of the tahsildar office,” said MLA Dinakar Shetty.
Speaking after his visit to the sub-jail and listening to the woes of the Revenue Department employees in Kumta, the MLA asked prison officials to provide quality food to the inmates and maintain cleanliness in and around the jail.
Meanwhile, a physically-challenged woman named Mukri, who has lost both her arms, said that she was not getting foodgrains under the Public Distribution System as she was unable to give her thumb impression.
Responding to this problem, the MLA asked officials to explore a solution to this problem and assured her of taking measures to help her..
‘Stop negliegnce’
He warned one of the officials of the Sub-Treasury office to stop involving in other works during office hours. The MLA said that he had received several complaints regarding the official’s absence and the inconvenience that the people faced due to the lax attitude.
RTC issue
Zilla Panchayat member Gajanan Pai complained that at some places, a single RTC contained names of several landowners. Such RTCs should be made in the names of respective landowners.
On the occasion, MLA Shetty handed over cheques of total worth Rs 5.85 lakh to 14 beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
