Yellapur: In connection with a love matter, a woman in Arebail village of the taluk was allegedly attacked by her cousin brother in a deadly manner on 5th August, Saturday.

Menaka Shivaram Shetty (24 yrs) of Arebail is the victim, who was attacked on the head and back with a knife by her uncle’s son Damoday Subramanya Shetty (26 yrs). She is now being treated at the Yellapur taluk hospital.

According to sources, Menaka loved a person named Naidu of Arrebai. But her family disapproved of this. On Friday morning, there was a quarrel between her and Damodar regarding this matter and he told her to end the relationship with Naidu. As the argument heated up, in complete rage Damodar picked up a knife and attacked her.

As she was injured severely, after first aid in Yellapur taluk hospital, she was rushed to Hubli for further treatment.

A case has been registered at Yellapur police station.
