Bhatkal: A motorbike rider was killed on the spot after coming in collision with a speeding truck here on Nawayath colony NH-66 in Bhatkal on 5th March, Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased is identified as Narasimha Moger, aged 37.
The mishap happened when Narasimha, who was on his bike towards Bhatkal from Shirali, tried to avoid colliding a vehicle which was parked aside the highway. Unfortunately, his attempt gave an ugly turn as a speeding truck heading from the opposite direction rammed into his bike. The impact of the collision was such that the rider received grievous head injuries and succumbed to it on the spot.
Hundreds of people who noticed the mishap rushed near the spot. The flow of traffic on the highway was also affected for a while. The body was then taken to Bhatkal government hospital for post mortem.
About Narasimha, it is said that he was employed as a fisherman and was married. He had only daughter, who expired a year ago, whose first death anniversary was today, said sources.
A case has been registered in Bhatkal town police station and further investigation are on.
