Ankola: A leopard which strayed into human habitation in search of food and water, attacked a man at Kanchankeri in Achave village in Ankola taluk on Thursday.
The man who was injured in the attack was identified as Shankar Rama Gowda. He was admitted to the civil hospital in Ankola for treatment.
The incident took place when Shankar tried to drive away the leopard which strayed into the pen of hens at his house. The leopard was then driven by the pet dogs and Shankar’s brother.
Ankola Assistant Conservator of forest Nanjundappa, Deputy Range Forest Officer Suresh Naik met Shankar at the hospital and enquired about his health.
They said that the hospital and other expenditure incurred by Shankar Gowda will be provided to him by the forest department.
