Kundapur: Frustated by the harrasment by three youths, a minor girl from Ambesail in the taluk allegedly attempted for suicide.

Initially, The girl tried to end herself  by consuming poison and now is fighting for her life at KMC Hospital, Manipal. Her medical condition is said to be crucial.

A report was lodged at Ambesail police station by her parents against the three accused who were identified as Prasad Hegde (30) Prashanth Hegde (28) and Vinay Shetty (29). A man-hunt has been launched by the police to trace the accused.

The victim who was attending tailoring classes after finishing her SSLC, was being harrased sexually for three months by the accused. They were exploiting her through phone call and also whenever they saw her on the road.

According to the sources, the girl was threatened to come to an unknown location by the accused and fearing this, she attempted suicide. Her family members shifted her to the hospital.

On 6th June, Tuesday, the statement of the girl was recorded in presence of a judicial magistrate and a case has been registered under POCSO.

In his statement, ASP Vishnuvardhan said that the accused have absconded.
