Kundapur: In an accident that occurred at Hangluru here, a woman met with a tragic death as a speeding car rammed into her while she was crossing the road on 20th August, Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Ramani Bhandarkar (63 yrs), a resident of Goregaon in Maharastra. She had come to her native town after three years to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with her family.
According to sources, when Ramani arrived at the town and was crossing the road after getting down off the bus, a speeding Innova which was being driven recklessly hit her. Ramani was critically injured and was rushed to the hospital by the locals.
However, she was declared ‘brought dead’ by the doctors. The reckless driver identified as Manjunath Nayak is yet to be arrested. It is learnt that he was travelling from Hiriadka to Pune.
A case has been registered at Kundapur police station and police sources have said that legal action will be initiated soon.
