Kumta: The State Information Commission imposed Rs 7,000 fine on Taluk Panchayat officer Manjunath M Hegde for reportedly not providing information sought under the Right to Information Act by an applicant.   

One Parameshwara Birappa Naik of Bada in Bhatkal taluk had sought information under the Right to Information Act on January 8, 2019.

However, the officer allegedly failed to provide the information. Following this, Parameshwar approached the Commission, seeking justice.

After inquiry, the Commission imposed Rs 7,000 fine on the officer.
