Kumta: Remembering Indian martyrs in the recent Pulwama terror attack, Kumta town came together in a solidarity march to pay tributes to fallen heroes.
Representing a coalition of educational, social, political and welfare organisations in Kumta, the solidarity march started from Mastikatte circle and weaved across important landmarks in the town as young students held placards in memory of the soldiers. The march ended up at assistant commissioner's office submitting a memorandum.
Various NGOs including Kumta Jamat Ul Muslimeen, Hindu Jagarana Vedike, North Kanara Muslim United Forum, and politicians irrespective of their parties expressed their grief over the attacks and called on the youth to stay united in their resolve to fight divisive forces.
The march was attended by students of colleges alongside representatives of NGOs, political parties and other social organization.
On this occasion, Kumta-Honnavar constituency MLA Dinakar Shetty, Ex MLA Sharada Shetty, Ideal Education Trust president Basti Muhammad Malik Saheb, Former BJP leader Suraj Naik Soni, Kumta Jamaat Ul Muslimeen president Muhammad Shafi Shaikh, Vanalli Jamaat Ul Muslimeen members Abusaleha Mulla, Ali Shah Saheb, North Kanara Muslim United Forum general secretary Muhammad Mohsin Quazi, Kumta Muslim Association president Muhammad Akbar Mulla, Hindu Jagarana Vedike president Ganesh Bhat, JDS leader Pradeep Naik, Harish Shet, Advocate RG Naik, Kumta Al-Ittihad Youth Committee president Iftikhar Shaikh, and many others were present.
